Accident Insurance, Critical Illness Insurance, Cancer Insurance and Hospital Indemnity Insurance

Everyone’s health care needs are unique. We offer a broad range of options so you can tailor a solution to complement your health care strategy.

Accident Insurance

Accidents can happen when least expected. And while they can’t always be prevented, employees can have help with some financial support to make their recovery less expensive and less stressful.

With benefits that are simple to understand and easy to use, we’ll help you provide a group accident and health benefit plan for their needs. Our solutions provide:

  • Coverage for about 150 events in 5 categories — injuries, medical services & treatment, accidental death, hospitalization1, and dismemberment, loss, & paralysis2
  • Guaranteed coverage for employees, spouses, and children up to age 263
  • Benefit payments regardless of what’s covered by medical insurance
  • Lump-sum amount paid directly to the employee to spend as they choose
  • Portability for continuation of coverage4

Please see the group certificate for specific information regarding covered benefits.

Cancer Insurance

A verified cancer diagnosis can happen to anyone, at any time, so it pays to be prepared. Help give them the financial support they need to stay focused on recovery and to keep moving forward.

With benefits that are simple to understand and easy to use, we’ll help you provide a cancer insurance benefit plan for their needs. Our solutions provide:

  • Coverage for several conditions such as full benefits for advanced cancers and partial benefits for many early stage cancers5
  • Guaranteed coverage for employees, spouses, and children up to age 263
  • Benefit payments regardless of what’s covered by medical insurance
  • Lump-sum amount paid directly to the employees to spend as they choose
  • Portability for continuation of coverage4

Please see the group certificate for specific information regarding covered benefits.

Critical Illness Insurance

When a family member receives a verified diagnosis of a critical illness, it can be overwhelming — both physically and financially. Having help to provide financial cushion can allow employees focus on getting back on track — without worrying about finding the extra cash to cover some of their expenses.

With benefits that are simple to understand and easy to use, we’ll help you provide a critical illness insurance benefit plan for their needs. Our solutions provide:

  • Coverage for a range of medical conditions including heart attack, cancer5, stroke6, kidney failure, Alzheimer’s disease7, and Coronary Artery Bypass Graft8
  • Choice of issue age or attained age rate structures9
  • No waiting periods between different covered conditions
  • No pre-existing condition for heart attack or stroke
  • Guaranteed coverage for employees, spouses, and children up to age 263
  • Benefit payments regardless of what’s covered by medical insurance
  • Lump-sum amount paid directly to the employees to spend as they choose
  • Portability for continuation of coverage4

Please see the group certificate for specific information regarding covered benefits.

Hospital Indemnity Insurance

Hospital stays can be pricey and are often unexpected. Since most medical plans — particularly high deductible health plans (HDHPs) — don’t cover all expenses, employees can help protect themselves from the financial strain of out-of-pocket costs and unexpected expenses.

With benefits that are simple to understand and easy to use, we’ll help you provide a hospital indemnity insurance benefit plan for their needs. Our solutions provide:

  • Coverage for hospital admission and confinement for accidents and sickness1
  • Guaranteed coverage for employees, spouses, and children up to age 263
  • Benefit payments regardless of what’s covered by medical insurance
  • Lump-sum amount paid directly to the employee to spend as they choose
  • Portability for continuation of coverage4

Please see the group certificate for specific information regarding covered benefits.

METLIFE CRITICAL ILLNESS INSURANCE (CII) IS A LIMITED BENEFIT GROUP INSURANCE POLICY. Like most group accident and health insurance policies, MetLife’s CII policies contain certain exclusions, limitations and terms for keeping them in force. Product features and availability may vary by state. In most plans, there is a pre-existing condition exclusion. After a covered condition occurs, there is a benefit suspension period during which most plans do not pay recurrence benefits, except in the case of insureds covered under a New York certificate. MetLife offers CII on both an Attained Age and an Issue Age basis. Attained Age rates are based on 5-year age bands and will increase when a Covered Person reaches a new age band. MetLife’s Issue Age CII is guaranteed renewable and may be subject to benefit reductions that begin at age 65. Premium rates for MetLife’s Issue Age CII are based on age at the time of the initial coverage effective date and will not increase due to age; premium rates for increases in coverage, including the addition of dependents’ coverage, if applicable, will be based on the covered person’s age at the time of the initial coverage effective date. Rates are subject to change for MetLife’s Issue Age CII on a class-wide basis. A more detailed description of the benefits, limitations, and exclusions applicable to both Attained Age and Issue Age CII can be found in the applicable Disclosure Statement or Outline of Coverage/Disclosure Document available at time of enrollment. For complete details of coverage and availability, please refer to the group policy form GPNP07-CI, GPNP09-CI or GPNP14-CI, or contact MetLife for more information. Benefits are underwritten by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, New York, New York.
